QUEENSLAND BUDGET.
A PROGRESSIVE STATE. By Tcleffraptt—Press Aesociation-Copyrieht (Rec. September 20, 10 p.m.) I Brisbane, September 20. The State Treasurer, Mr. Barnes, delivered his Budget statement in tho Assembly to-day. The revenue for the year totalled .£5,988,347. This is a record, and is .£215,759 abovo.the Estimate. The expenditure amounted to £5,965,692. The estimated revenue for the current year is and the expenditure JG6.262.633. The population last year increased ly 22,998, including 13,699 immigrants. Tho amount spent on immigration was .£161,655. Tho land selected totalled G,730,4G4 acres, which is a record. It is estimated that 575 miles of new railways will be opened this year, Tiio policy of opening up tho country will be vigorously pushed on with.
