THE NEW, WIRELESS STATION.
SIGNALS HEAED AT MELBOURNE The Hon. R. H. Rhodes (Postmaster* General) informed a Dominion reporter yesterday that tho testing of the now wireless station is practically completed. _ The result moro than bears out tlio anticipations of the engineers. On Thursday night signals wcro successfully exchanged with Mocquarie Island, Pennant Hille, nml Melbourne 'also with tho Mahejio, about two days put from Sydney to Auckland. Macqunrio Island found tho signals more'than twice the strength of those sent out by tho old station on tho Post Office tower; while Pennant Hills remarkctl on tho fmo quality of. tho note, and stated that the signals wore 75 per cent, stronger than those of tho old elation. Tho Melbourne, station at tho same time overheard the conversation, and stated that' tho signals were good and clear. Conversation was easily kept up with the e.s. Maheno. As tho station is only a 2} kilowatt one, the results must be considered as very satisfactory indeed. Th« station will bo opon for regular business very shortly.
