THE WEATHER.
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for hign westerly winds, veering to a southerly gale. The barometer will probably fall lower in the north, but rise shortly in the south, and everywhere after about twenty hours. Bain is probable generally, and some snow on higher levols in tho south, with colder weather following. A brief improvement is possible in tho meantime, in some parts of tho country, but tho immediate prospects are far from promising;. Misty and cloudy weather has prevailed, with considerable rain, especially on the West Coast. The barometer is very low everywhere. Northerly winds, strong to gale, havo prevailed. D. 0. BATEB.
