WELLINGTON TRAMS.
. A VARIETY OP SUBJECTS. A variety of matters concerning the city trams came before the City Council last night. The conncil decided to inform the Kelburne and Karori Tramway Company that they could not see their way to grant the Kelburne Co. an electrical power supply for their tramways at present. It was decided that the Tramways Board- should bo authorised to make the best arrangements possible in connection with advertising on the backs of tramway shilling cards and concession tickets. It was resolved: "That the Miramar Borough Council be informed, in reply to their inquiry as to what facilities can be granted them to deliver material from the Miramar Wharf by means of freight cars running over tie tramway lines, that the whole matter is at present under consideration, and that no information can bo supplied with regard to the same at present.' The Hataitai Municipal Electors' Association are to bo informed, in reply to their letter with respect to alleged overcrowding on the Kilbirnie oars, that the council cannot see their way to mnko any alteration in the service at present. That tho salary of the electrical engineer be charged half to the tramwaysdepartment and half to tho lighting department, instead of, as at present, wholly to tramways.—This was one of the recommendations of the Powct Stations and Tramways Committee, which was agreed to. Conneillor Barber considered that this matter should be carried farther, and that this debit should be retrospective. Ho moved accordingly, but the amendment lapsed for want of a seconder.
