CAPTAIN FRAXDr SINKS-IIIS ' GRIEVANCE. , In a letter addressed to the GeneraV Officer Commanding the New Zealand Forces (Major-Genera! A. J. Godley, C.8.), a copy of which has been handed to Tin-; Dominion' for ' publication, Captain Ateo Frandi, of the Senior Cadets, whoso name was recently liefore the public in connection with a dispute relating to a, question of seniority between that officer and Captain Simeon, also of the Senior Cadets, writes as follows• "I wish to express my regret, that in resenting what 1 considered a slight in being placed junior to an officer to whom, I considered 1 was entitled to seniority, 1 have boon' carried' away; and have taken a course that may have caused somo difficulty in the carrying out and developing of the New Zealand defence forces. 1 now lully recogni-c that it was my duty to accept your ruling on such a matter,- and 'om -satisfied - that, there can have been no <|uesliou of favouritism on your part, I trust to time and my work to right any grievance I niay have. In palliation, 1 would add that I have worked arduously and ungrudgingly for twenty-two vcars on the volunteer and Territorial forces, and feel very keenly what I considered a personal slight. Further, there hnvo boon circumstances of which vou cannot be aware, which could only arise in the transition stage through which we havo passed, but which cannot recur. I see now that in refusing to acccpt your ruling 1 erred, anil that it was mv duly as ait officer, in th'c interest of general discipline, to subm\t and sink my personal grievance. As 1 have not been gnssotted out, I desire, with vour permission, to withdraw ,iny resignation, and am prepared to carry out my work as captain of my company, and render loyal service."
