The Hon. J. B. Callnn, M.L.C., lias been granted one week's loavo of absence from Ins legislative duties on account of illness. Mr. John Pryor ,a well-known resident of Mnstorton, and brother of Mi, William Pryor, of the Employers' Association died suddenly at his residence, at eight o clock last night. Deceased underwent au operation a few weeks ago for varicose veins, and subsequently contracted pleurisy and pneumonia. He had recovered almost coinnletelv, however, and early yesterday evening appeared to bo very bright. It is supposed that heart seizure was tlie cause of death. Deceased who was in the employ of the Wairarapa farmers Co-operative Association, was identified with a number of local institutions. He leaves a widow and family of five. J The death of Mr. John Pagan at the age of t2 is announced in a Press Association message from Sydney. \s a young man llr. Pagan drove Cobb* and Lo.s coaches over the Bine Mountains to Parrainotta. Later he purchased a lino of coaches from Carcoar to Granfcll and other centres. In later years lio was engaged in grazing. He owned several stations. Mr. Pagan drove the mail coach stuck up by Ben Hall's ljushrmi"mg gang in the Eugowra Gap. The funeral of the lato Mr. Clive M.
