The Legislative Assembly, by 36 to 23 votes, negatived a motion to consider as a matter of -urgency the petitions from the Bar and the Incorporated Law Institute against the Meagher Reinstatement Bill.

Mr. Donaldson, in moving the second reading of the Meagher Bill, said it was a serious matter to attempt to take the step proposed, but there was no other way of re-opening tho case, as Mr. Meagher could not re-submit the matter to the. Courts.

The. debute is proceeding. [Mr, R. D. Mcaghor was struck off the rolls some years ago in connection with the Dean case.]
