JT 1 always-used Lμ a ATI? < Y.W.C.A. ANNUAL MEETING. 9 GOVERNOR PRESENT. LADY ISLINGTON ALSO SPEAKS. The itmuial public meeting of the Wellington Young Women's Christian Association was held last evening. His Excellency tlie Governor (Lord Islington) presided. Lady Islington, also, was present. His Excellency stated that he. was pleased to identify himself with the Y.W.C.A. 'He was sure that tho conforunci> which had just been concluded would ho productive, of valuable results in the future. He felt that tho delegates would return to their various districts stimulated to further cfTort and able to arouse enthusiasm in others. He realised that (lie work of the association was women's work, and that women were more capable of administering the affairs of the organisation than men were. This organisation and the Y.M.C.A. were now in tho forefront of .-ocial movements. There wore numerous young men and young women to wliorii these organisations were of material assistance. These institutions were an asset to the community. Miss Stillwojl innilo reference to Ihc conference which had just, been concluded. She stated that, there had been 40 present—2o from Wellington, seven- from Auckland, five fro,m Christchurch, four from llunedin, two from Invercargill, and one from Melbourne. Lady Islington, addressing the gathering, said that there"was a great deal for women to do. The Christian religion, she remarked, was the only religion which properly recognised women. Tho real beauty of it was the life of Christ and the immense respect and veneration for the Virgin Mary. Religion had not always been presented in its truest sensehand iu hand with happiness. England's greatness would be gone when the spirit of veneration and devotion was dead in her. Next year there was to be a campaign in this island for funds for the association. She would like the men of the city to subscribe to tins .object, and the women to assist the movement by their brains and their charm. Miss Helen Barnes (the national organiser), in the course of an address on the worth of II , .? organisation, stated that the .W.C.A. throughout the world now numbered S!W,fI(M people as its members. Miss Birph announced that the annual business meeting of the institution would be held to-morrow evening, and Misses Birch nnd Kaye also spoke. There is, probably, no; more disfiguring blemish nn the face, of a woman than a growth of superfluous hair, nnd none more unsafe upon which to experiment. Electrolysis is the only sure euro for such cases, and for this Mrs. Rolloiton holds the highest, diploma and medical testimonials for skilful treatment and permanent results.
