"Her Gift" (on interesting comedy drama of tho American Stock Exchange "Cotton l'it"), "The Colonel's llet" (n military comedy with an excellent plot, and acted by ii capable company), "Cardinal Wol.pey" (a spectacular historical drama, founded upon Shakespeare's great play) arc amongst the best of the series. An exceptionally fine- programme of pic hires is being screened at the King's Theatre- this week, a feature of the , series lying the number of films of "star" rank. A dramatic denouement is developed in the photo-play, "A Thorn in Vengeance," wherein the vacillating affections of a man lead to a tragedy, and the ultimate discomfiture of tho villain of the piece. Cines comedy, tells, in an amusing way, nf (ho troubles of an overzealous inspector who is employed by tho Society for the Prevention ot 'Cruelty to Animals, and makes himself rather a nuisance to the public. Another comedy which justifies its place in tho list is "Charlie Sniiler Catches a Tartar." Tomorrow, Messrs. MncMahon and Donnelly will present Dion Boucicault's celebrated play, "Tho Colleen Bawn" (with Mademoisollo Gene Gauticr in the title role), and, in response to a general request, will also revive, for one day and night only, "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." SHOKTTS' PICTURES.., ; "The Traitress," ene of tho finest military photo-dramas ever screened in Wellington, will be shown at Shortts , Continuous Theatre in Willis Street for the last' time during to-day and to-night. The supporting items include "Tho Fatal Mirror (a fnsoinating drama), Pandora's Bos (i Vitagraph photo-drama, featuring John Bunny), the l'athe Gazette, "The Golf Caddie's Dog" (an amusing comedy), "Tapioca .Making." THE DANDIES. ■ Another lovgo audience patronised ' the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last evening to witness the excellent entertainment provided by the Dandies (red). The respective items were received with genuine applause. Tho comedian of the company, Mr. Claude . Dampior, provides a number of capital new songs, and his humorous sayings give, cause for much laughtor. Miss Evelyn Ward's contralto" voice was heard to advantage in "The Rosary," "Home., Love," and "Three "Hello, Martha,"-was.contri-buted brightly, by the sonbretto of the company, Miss Irene Vere. Mr. Oliver Peacock sang "A Request," and Mr. Goorgo Morgan scored 'in "I'm Twenty-ono-To-, day."
