SMOKE CONCERT.

The staff of the' Wellington Woollen Company foregathered on Saturday evening at Godber's Hall, Courtenay Place, to celebrate the company's successful .year, and to present -Mr. A. E. Donne, the secretary, with a souvenir. About 40 members of the staff were present, including Mr. Rushbrook, warehouse manager, Mr. Rnmsden, mill manager, Mr. Kerr, factory manager, -all the heads of departments, arid travellers. 'Interesting speeches were made by the secretary, who has had 2-1 .years''service with the'cbriipnny, and by the mill-manager,, who has been with the company since its inception. Mr. C. W. Rushbrook, warehouse manager, on behalf of the staff, presented to Mr. Donne a silver rose-howl. Mr. Rushbrook made complimentary reference to the recipient, and emphasised the good feeling pervading the departments, and the esteem in which the secretary was held. Mr. Eamsdcn, mill manager, Mr. Kerr, factory manager, and t Mr. MacGowan, accountant, also supported the toast of "Mr. Donne." Other toasts honoured were.—"The Company," proposed by Mr. Goldie and responded to by the secretary; the "Warehouse." by Mr. Albert Ramsde'n and responded to by the warehouse manager, Mr. Rushbrook; the "Mill," by Mr. Pidgeon and responded to by Mr. Ramsden; the "Travellers," by Mr. MacGowan, and responded to by Messrs. Dryburgh, Smith, Pilgrim, Read, and Armstrong; the "Clothing Factory," by Mr. Miller and responded to by Mr. Kerr; the "Office." by Mr. Brewer, and responded to by Messrs. MacGowan, Main, and Radcliffe. Songs and recitations bv C. Reid, E. J. Read, Blick, Boock, MacGowan, and Outrun filled in a successful evening. ,
