DOMINIONS AND THE NAVY.
AUSTRALIAN SCHEME CRITICISED,
By Telesraph—Press Association-OoDjrieht
Vancouver, September 13.. Roar-Admirnl Tate, in an interview, said that the withdrawal of the British sf/nadrons from the North Pacific was a great tactical error. Canada's best contribution to Imperial defence would be the maintenance of squadrons'at Esquimalt and Halifax.
He did not think the Australian naval scheme workable. Australia could not get the men to man their ships, and must fall back for aid on the Mother Country. Canada and Australia were in exactly the same boat in- that respect. Australians claimed that they could got twenty thousand men for their ships, but such a claim was nonsense.
