Mr. Edward Moss, eon of Sir Edward Jfoss, of Moss's Empires, Ltd., the great Home theatrical firm, who lins been farming at Unga Onga, left Wuipava on Thursday morning for Wellington, from whence ho failed for England, via San l'rancisco, l>y the Moano. Mr. Jioss has been called Home owing to the serious illness of liis fathei, Sir Edward Moss.
Mr. Scliilsky, examiner for Trinity College of Music, London, arrived in Wellington on Saturday, and will start (lie local examinations to-day at the Town Hall.
Mr. Somerset Plaync, n member of tho Royal Societies' Club, has arrived in Wellington in connection with tho compilation of a work on Now Zealand, which will deal exhaustively with the trade, commerce, and resources of the country, with special articles on the political, economic, and commercial condition of the country, together with supporting statistics. Mr. Playne has already completed a volume of a comprehensive character on South Africa, and is now turning liis attention to the Australian Stales and New Zealand.

The Hon. A\ 7 . P. Massey (Prime Minister) paid a visit yesterday to the Wereroa State Farm.
Mr. J. B. Harcourt, who for several years has been president of the Wellington Encing Club, has been nominated for another term, and as there is no other candidate he will be declared re-elected. The retiring vice-president this year is Mr. W.' H. S. Moorhon.se, and his reelection is also unopposed. Messrs. J. \V. Abbott, D. J. Nathan, W. H. Timibull, and 0. S. Watkins arc the retiring stewards, and have been nominated for another term. Mr. Orton Stevens will also be a candidate for the office, of steward.
The Roy. Father Maples, who has been parish priest at Petone for 9J years, has been transferred to Stratford, ami will leave to take up hip new duties on Thursday next. At a large meethi" of parishcners last evening it was decided to make a presentation to him before he takes his leave.
