DISCUSSION BY AUCKLAND PRESBYTEKY. At the meeting of tho Auckland Presbytery on Tuesday night the matter of Sunday loavo for members of the police force was introduced by the Eov. A. Miller.' Mr. Miller stated that at a previous meeting of the Presbytery , a resolution was' passed asserting that, one Sunday off in a month, was not sufficient. A committee was then formed to look into the matter, and ho subsequently wrote to the Hon. A. L. Herdman, Minister for Justice. The Minister, iii reply, stated that though the constables hod only ono Sunday in the month wholly clear," they had opportunities to attend divine service, if they wished, on other Sundays. Tho committee, however, did not consider the opportunities for attendance at church to be sufficient, and it now recommended that an overture to tho General Assembly bo prepared, suggesting that members of the police forco should be granted two Sundays off in a month, and that tho Assembly should make representations on these lines to tho Govern- , ment. Mr. Miller moved that the committee's report bo adopted.
