THE MANUFACTURE OF WINK. A complete exemption of nines, lnnmir factured in Now Zealand from the provisions of tho existing licensing laws is proposed by tho Now Zealand Viiicultural Association jn n petition presented to llio House of Representatives yesterday afteruoon by Mr. Campbell (Hnwko's Bay). 'J'ho petition states that iv prospective grrat industry lias been mined by the withdrawal of State encouragement, mid by the liarsh and depressing action of the. licensing laws, and Parliament: is asked to grant: relief, encouragement, and protection by passing tho necessary legislation. The association proposes thai the us.o of its trade mark by oilier tliim members of tho association should not bo permitted, that the addition of deleterious ingredients to wine offered for sale should bo an indictable offence, and that llio wine industry of the Dominion should l>o protected from competition by imported wines. The petition is signed by 22 officers and members of the association.
