The Palmerston -Working Men's Club has decided to purchase a. piece of property adjoining the present club premises on which to erect a new and commodious club house, in brick. The Palmerston Chamber- of Commerce is to meet on Monday afternoon to consider a communication from the Minister for Internal Affairs having reference to the visit of the Eoyal Commission on Empire trade to New Zealand. -"-At a conference of local bodies yesterday a deputation comprising Messrs. J. A. Nash (Mayor of Palmerston), Venn (Levin), L. B. Bryant (Kairanga County Council), E. Gardener, and 51. A. Eliott and G. A. Preeco (Palmerston Chamber of-Commerce), A. E. Clausen (Palmerston Borough Council), E. Lancaster (Levin Borough Council.), A. Judd (Horowhenna County-Council), and E. J. Armstrong (Palmerston North) was appointed to wait on tho Government to urge the erection of a new railway bridge over tho Manawatu River at Longburn, and to have the present bridge opened for vehicle traffic.
