4 SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications arc for high westerly winds, with a southerly tendency for a short time. Stormy weather probable generally, with heavy showers in most parts of the country and snow on higher levels in the south. A temporary increase in barometric pressure is to be expected in the south.'. The barometer has fallen everywhere, with northerly and westerly winds, strong to Kale, and rain in many parts of the country. A thunderstorm was reported in Westland on Wednesday nirrht. D. 0. Palmerston, September 12.—Heavy rain early in morning; fine day; threatening toniprht. Shannon, Boptembor 12—Heavy rain fell on Wednesday night; Thursday was breezy ana fine. Otaki, September 12.—Showery. Feathcrston, September 12.-Strong N.W. wind; there were hoav.y showers at intervals in the moraine;; fine weather in the afternoon. Greytown, September 12.—A very windy day; sunshine at intervals.-' Hastings, September 12.—T0-day has been dull; temperature mild.
