The Commonwealth Statistician reports (that in 1911 the increase of population (was 143,624, which establishes a record. The births were 122,193, also a record. The birth-rate was 27.21 per thousand, the highest for eleven years. The illegitimate births totalled 7074, or 5.79 per tient., the second lowest for ten years. The deaths totalled 47,869, or 10.66 per thousand. The deaths under ono year I were 68.49 per thousand births, which is the lowest ,on record.
