Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—At Waikanae on Tuesday a fair yarding of sheep soldwell, at ruling prices. The -entry of cattle'consisted chiefly of dairy heifers close- to calving, for which there was not very much demand. Quotations:—Fat ewea, 18s. Jas, Macintosh and Co. report having held their weekly sale in their Masterton (Waipoua) Yards yesterday, when they offered a good yarding of both sheep and cattle, which met with a ready sale, the whole yarding being sold under the hammer at prices well above late rates. The New Zealand Loan anfl Mercantile Agency Co. (Masterton branch) report:— We held our weekly sale at Solway yesterday, but had only a 6mall entry of sheep and cattle. Several lots which we had advertised did not come forward. Hoggets brought up to 13s. .6d.;-ewes, in lamb, to 15s. ADDINGTOJT STOCK SALE. (Bj Telegraph—Press Association.) Chrlstchurch, September 11. At Addington to-day there were fairly largo entries of fat stock and small yardings of stores. The attendance was barely average.- Fat cattle showed no change. The fat sheep market opened at about last week's rates, but the edlo proved irregular, and prices generally weaker. Store sheen were in short supply, and brought late rates. Pigs were somewhat easier. Store cattlo were in good demand, as were also the better class of dairy cowe. Tho yarding of 6toro sheep was small, much below the previous week. It comprised a couple of pens of wethers, two or threo pens of ewes, one line of four and six-tooth sheop being especially good. Tho balance were hoggets of average class, with a couple of lines of ! good ewe hoggets. There was a good attendance, and the market was- unchanged, prices being firm at previous week's rates. Quotations:— Wethers, small 2-tooth, 10s. lid.; 4-tooths, 18s. 9d. to 19s. 3d., the latter price being for a good lino of halfbreds, and mcriuo wethers,-14s. 4d.: ewes, 4 and 6-tooth, exceedingly good line,'2s?.; 2-tooths, 20s. 2d.; low-conditioned 4-tooths, 14s. 10d.; aged sorts, lis. lid. Hoggets, faiV lots, made 17s. to 19s. Id. for an exceedingly good pen; small inferior sorts, 135.; good wether hoggets, 15e. 6d. to 16s. 4d.; others, 13s. 3d. to 14s. 9d.; and a few poor culls at 7s. lOd. Tho yarding of fat sheep was about criual to last week's in numbers, and was comprised chiefly of medium weight sheep, but there were more heavy-weight wethers than during the two previous sales. However, a good many lines of light and unfinished sorts, and several lines of merino wethers, were also offered. The market opened at about last week's rates, but the bidding was not very free, and prices later on were about Is. per head below last week's rates, graziers taking a less number. The ran?e of prices was: Extra prime wethers, to 355. 6d.; prime. 20s. to 255.; others, 16s. 3d. to 19s. 9d.; prime ewes, 17s. to 235. Od.; others, 14s. to 16s>. 6d.; hogcets, 17s. Ed. to 19s. 4d.; prime merino wethers, 16s. fid. to 21s. 6d.; others, 12s. <d. to 16s. A fewnew season's fat lambs made 19s. 6d. to 255. 6d. Tho ontry of fat oattle totalled 269. compared with 159 for the previous week, and 235 for August 28. Generally, the quality was good. The first lots ottered were on the light side, but later, when tho heavier cattle were reached, there was an improvement in demand, and prices showed no change from the previous week, the price of beef running from 255. to 375. per IOOIK, according to nuality. Steers realised £7 7s. 6d. to £11 155... extra ranking to £19 55.; heifers, £6 10s. to £8 17s. 6(1.; extra, to £11 lSi.: and rows. £6 12s\ 6d. to £10: extra, to £13 15s. Of the total entry 74 head were sold at £12 and upwards. The yaYding of store cattlo was medium. The majority were of very indifferent class for the descriptions, but notahly for the better class. There was a keen dcmand. and a good clearance was ■ made. The market was slightly irregular, and on the whole prices were a shade easier, compared with the previous week. Cho-nners realised £3 to £5 Bs. 6d.; heavy Iraconcrs, 655. to 725. 6d.; and lighter sorts. 555. to 60/: these prices being equivalent to 5Jd. per lb. Heavy porkers mndc 435. to 50a.. apd lighter sorts, 35*. to 40s. (canal to s>d. to 6d. per lb.). There was a largo entry of stores, but although the tone of tho market was a shade easier, there was no quotnhle drop in valuer. At Burnsidc to-day, 160 fat eattlo were yarded. Tho quality, taken all round, was fairly good. Bidding was not so brisk as of late, and prices were inclined to ease, especially towards the end of tho sale. A number wero turned out unsold. A few very heavy cattlo sold up lo £19 7s. 6d.; host bullbcks, £12 to £14: extra heavy, to £19 7s. 6(1.; medium to good, £10 10s. to £11 10s.: light, £8 lCs. to £9 Ills.: best cows and heifers, £9 ICc-. to £10 155.: extra, to £12; moriftim to good, £6 10s. to -f.B.
