The president of the Employers' Federation, referring to the industrial unrest, said a marked lack of confidence was making itself felt in the community. Capital was leaving Australia. These facts wore attributable to burdensome legislation, extravagance of the Governments, and the cxtremo demands made by the more Socialistic union leaders. He predicted financial disaster.
THE CHURCH AND THE MASSES. Sydney, September 9. Tho Presbyterian General Assembly, on the suggestion of Mr. Fisher, appointed a committee to report on the causes of the apparent antagonism between employers and employed. The committee eays tho reason is the drift of the masses from the Church, whose methods need remedying.
