OTHER FOOTBALL.

Iror Morgan, the Swansea and Welsh International Rugby forward, one of the most brilliant players who ever donned a jersey, has decided to retire from'the same in consequence of a serious injury to his leg. Morgan has injured the ciirtilago so badly that the doctor cannot hold out much hope of recovery, even if an operation is performed. Tlis absence from the playing field will be a. distinct loss both to Swansea and Wale?. Ho has won matches for Swansea single-linnded, and his skill has materially helped Wales to more than one victory. Morgan was the foremost wing-forward in Hie country, and a prolific scorer, says tho "Sporting Chronicle." The Wellington Rugby Union has been anxious to do its best for Wednesday footballers, but there are many difficulties in the way of keeping the Rugby game going on Wednesday, and unfortunately these difficulties seem to be increasing. Much as the union would 'have liked to arrange games in Wellington with visiting representative teams, it has been unable to do so, and the Wednesday players have had to be content with a match against the Saturday juniors. The number of players in the " Wednesday competition shows signs of decreasing, and this is attributed to the fact that every year two or _three additional shops are observing tho Saturday half-holiday. It therefore seems quito probable that tho time is not far distant when Wednesday football will be a thing of the past.
