Tho weather was line but boisleroue, llio wieltoi good. The attendance numbered GOOU. The teams were as follow:— Australia.—tirogory, Bnrdsley, Mayne, Macartney, Kelleway, Miiuictt, Carkeek, Matthews, Whilty, .Smith, and Hazlitt. Lord Lcmdesboroiigli's Eleven.—Kanjitsinjhi (captain), Spooner, Douglas, Bird, Jcssop, Hirst, JJcnlon, Rhodes, Ilaigh, A. E. Itelf, and P. Mead.
■Kanjitsinjhi won the toss, and sent in Rhodes and Spooner. The side made a bad start. Spooner was bowled by Minuett before reaching double figures. Aload and Rhodes added 31 for the second wicket, and Rhodes and Denton il for the third.
The feature of the innings was the stand made by the "tail," Ilaigh. and Albert Keif putting on 130 for tho ninth wicket. Rhodes (51) played a masterly innings lasting 135 minutes. Relf gave a chance to Carkeck before ho had scored and another at 78 to Smith in tho deepfield. Tho Susses representntivo batted brilliantly towards the iiuish.
