Lieutenant-General M'Arthur, while attending a .reunion of his old regiment, the 21th Wisconsin Volunteers, dropped dead from apoplexy. Captain Parson, a comrade-in-arms , was stricken with paralysis on. seeing General M'Arthur fall. General M'Arthur distinguished himself during the Atlanta campaign in the Civil War.
Lieutenant-General Arthur M'Arthnr was born in 18i5, and on August i, 1862, was given a commission in the regiment whose reunion he was attending at the time of his death. Hβ was given the Congressional Medal of Honour for seizing colours of regiment. at a critical moment, - and planting them on captured works on -the crest of Missionary Ridge, November 25, 1863. He took part in the American war with Spain, in 1898. • [Missionary Eidge, fought in 1863, is one of the great battles in tho western side of the theatre of war, and is sometimes mentioned as "The Battle Above thq Clouds." It was a general action fought by Grant's army for the'purpose of raising the siege of Chattanooga— <in important strategical point on the Tennessee River.]
