Tlw contractor, however, had thrown up his contract. The Hon. W. Frasei , replied that the matter was not in the hands of the Public Works Department. It was for the Minister in charge of tho Department to come to a decision about increased accommodation, before tho Public Works Department'oould tako the matter up. ' ■ ' ■ Interviewed ktor Jn tho day Mr. Fraser supplied somo further details. Hβ explained that exception had been taken to the Sydney Street eito for a rtw Stamps Office. The Government hod not gone on with tho erection,, of the building in Sydney Street, because this would havo committed it to tho project of removing tho whole of tho Government Buildings to that locality. Nothing would ho done until the whole position in regard to tho Parliamentary and Government Buildings had been reviewed, but accommodation vzould have to be provided for the Stamps, Native, ond other Departments.
