Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report on their fortnightly sale, held at the Upper Hutt yesterday. There was only a small yarding of sheep, but a large entry of cattle. Bidding was a bit" Blow, but we were successful in disposing of most lines under the hammer and privately. Woolly hoggets, to £12; 15-month steers, to £2 155.; two-year steers, to £3 18s.; 18month heifers, to £3 35.; springing heifers. £5 17s. 6d. to £6 125.; springing cows, £6 15e., £7, £7 lis., to £8 25.; cows in ■ milk, £4 10s. to £7-2s. 6d.; store cows, £3 135.; bull?, £2 10s. to £2 15s.
Messrs. Dalgety aind Company, Limited, report on their sale at Palmerston yesterday as tollowe'.—There was a medium entry of stock. Empty store owes, lis. lid.; do. ewes, 1*3.; light fat cows, £5 35.; dairy cows in milk, to £5.
Messrs. Abraham and Williams. Ltd., report on their Pahiatua sale as follows:— Wo offered «, small yarding of sheep and a large yarding of cattle to a fair attendance of buyers, prices generally being easier. Medium hoggets, 10s.; two, four, and six-tooth ewes and lambs, 19s. Cattle; Fat corns, £5 10s. to £5 155.; store covs, £3 55.; two-year steers, in good condition, £4 13s. 6d.; dairy cows, springing, to £5 55.; springing heifers, £4, £4 155., £5 lEs. to £6; bulls, to £3 Is.
Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their springing heifer fiir as follows:—We offered a largo yarding of heifers to a large attendance of local and outside buyers. The built of our entry came forward, and we have to report a very fair clearance. Thero was no demand for backward heifers; but well-grown sorts cloEe to prollt sold well. Backward sorts. £4 53., £5, to £5 55.; forward heifers, £5 155.,-£7 2s. 6d.. £7 55., to £7 7s. 6d.; heifers on drop. £8 55.; £8 12s. 6d„ £8 15s. to £9; Jersey bull, £6; store cows, £2 15s. 6d.; fat cows, to £6; dairy cows, on the drop, £8 7e. 6d.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., and Reduced, report:— We had a fair entry of sheep at. Masterton yesterday, these consisting principally of boggets. Competition was hardly so keen -as at the previous sale, but, with the exception of one line, we are pleased to report a. total clearance. Backward hoggets made 95.; medium do., 12s. 9d.; good, 14s. 6d. to 15s. Ud.; mixed two-tooths and hoggets, 14s. 6d.
BUR-NSIDE MARKET. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
Duriedln, September 4. At Burnside to-day 176 fat cattle were yarded. The ouality was fair to good, \Hth a few pens of extra prime. he#.»y bullocks. Prices were slightly easier than last week's rates. Prime bullocks, £14 10s. to £16; extra, £18 IDs. to £20 7s. 6d.; medium to good, £11 10s. to £13; best cows and'heifers, £10 to £11 Ms.; medium to good, £8 10?. to £9 10s.; light aoid aged, £5 10s. to £7. Fat sheep: 2939 penned. This number was in excess of butchers' requirements, and prices Teceded sufficiently to let freezing buyers operate. About 800 sheep were secured for freezing. Best wethers, 225. 6d. to 245. 3d.; extra, to 295.; medium to good, 19s. 9d. to 225. 3d.; best ewes, 18s. to 205.; extra,' to 245. 3d.; medium, 14s. to 15s. 6d. i .Fat lambs: Only 350 penned, mostly medium to inferior Quality. Prices were much on a, par with last week's rates.
