Total •£921,000 "This amount is largely made up of im-' prosts issued at the end of the month to meet payments such as interest, salaries, wages, etc. At the end of each quarter the accounts are kept open for nearly a fortnight to enable the receipted vouchers to ha included in Treasure books, thus reducing tho interest account. At the end of the financial year the books are kept open still longer, so that at the end of March the outstanding advances are reduced to a small amount.''
