Campbell Street School now has a roll number of 738, tho average for last month being 688. ■ ~ Appreciative mention of the , services of Mrs. Mellish, who has , recently retired from the staff of the Campbell Street School, was made at the last meeting of the School Committee. A resolution embodying that appreciation was placed on tho minutes. The Manawatu A. and P. Association' has decided to hold a sire horse parade on September 11. . . , A pleasant "facial" and dance was held by tho local Lodge of Oddfellows last evening, their being about forty couples present. Tho secretary of the Men's Social Club lias been'instructed to write to Lord Islington, who is patron of the club, regretting his departure from the .Dominion, and also expressing a hope that his successor as Governor will become patron of the club. Sixty-eight patients were admitted to the Palnierston North Hospital during the month of August.
