Research Society has been formed hero in connection with tho local Philosophical Institute, ■ its object being the collection and recording of Native and pakeha historical record? and Maori legends, of which there is such a rich store on this coast. - . Customs returns collected at the port of Wanganui for September- totalled J26431 12s. 3d., this being a decrease on the figures for the same month in 1911, when -.£7056 17s. Id. was collected. The Chamber of Commerce has been, for some time, arranging- for a. Parliamentary party to visit tho Wangnmii district, and it, is expected that several .members will pay a three days' visit on Saturday week.
