(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) : 1 Palmerston,'September-2..; '. At■■ the annual meeting' 'of tho Manawatu Motor-cycle' Club on Saturday night, Messrs. li. S. Abraham -and H. C. Baker appeared as a deputation froni'the Manawatu Automobile Association to ask that the club should with -the association with the object of strengthening their hands' when asking local bodies for better roads facilities. A sub-commitleo of tho club was appointed to discuss the matter with tho association. The balance-sheet showed that, there was a cash balance of ,£2O 135., with trophies to the value- of .£3O to be competed,for. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Jlr. H. B. Tucker; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. A. 'Nash, T Stockwell, H. Drew, E. S. Abraham, T. Childs, E. O. Kurley, and Dr. Peach; secretary, Mr. B. Pratt; captain, Mr. A. Torstonson; committee, Messrs. Beadnall, Benseiiian, Jorgensrn, Torstonson, Worral, Lund) Bell, Tucker, and Needhain. It was arranged to hold the opening run to Foxton Heads, on September 15, and to hold a , sports gathering on the Awapuni. racecourse at an early date. A presentation of silver plate was made to Mr. B. Pratt in recognition of his yervicc.i as secretary.

Seventeen new members were elected at the annual meeting of the Terrace End Tennis Club, and the following officers were appointed for the year-.—Captain, Mr. C. ,T. M'Grath; secretary, Mr. W. E. Jones; committee, Messrs. ft. Donald, 0. Stubbs. E. W. Carter, W. Burgess, Misses E. Kerslake, and Stubbs;. selector, Mr. E. W. Carter. Going round corners at a pace adjudged by tho police to be'excessive, brought* a number of motorists into Court to-day. A medical man was also fined for driving through the square at. a rate which was held to be unsafe.

At a meeting of the Palmerston Licensing Bench to-day, (he transfer of the Cafe de Paris Hotel was granted, as also was a renewal of the license of the Central Hotel. Consideration of the renewal of the license of the Family Hotel was' postponed for a fortnight, in order to enable- tho proprietor to effect improvements.
