A FOUR-WEEKLY RETURN. At the fortnightly meeting of the City Tramways Committee yesterday afternoon, a return was presented by the Tramway Board of Management, covering a period or four weeks' receipts and expenditure on tho working of thb tramways up till August IS last. The revenue totalled .£10,332 (a decrease of .€27 as compared witiln Hie same period Inst year); the working expenses, XM2 (decrease, JGl3B)j capital charges, -C 2958 (increase, J)7R); total expenses, .£10,400 • (decrease, £62); debit, balance, .£6B (decreaso .£35). For the , period of twenty weeks to August 18, tho total rwenuo increased by J.'BS2, whilst the working expenses increased !;v .£3329, tho net result being a.' debit balance of .£1377, as compared with a credit balance last yenr of X 14.59. The pa.wngers carried for the four weeks totalled 1,749,300, or 2i51 passengers fewer than last year. The car miles run for the fouT weeks totalled 177,408, an increase of 988 miles as compared with last year. Tho total revenue per car mile for tho four weeks averaged 13.97 d., a decrease of .13d. per car mile, as against last year. The revenue fop twenty weeks to August 18 has averaged H,33d, per car mile, <is ngniust U.SIM. last year, a decrease of .23d. per ear mile-. The working expenses for the four weeks averaged lfl.OGd. per car mile, a decrease of .25d. per car mile, ns against last year. The total expenditure to date (working expenses 'and capital charges) Jias nverascd H.Tfld. per car mile, or .lid. in oxcess of tho revenue.
