The ground was in perfect order, .and with a dry, ball; a fine game eventuated. The attendance was about 4000. The game nil through w'as very strenuous and there were a few accidents. Three ■ players— I Tilyard (bad kneo), and Bishop (broken rib) both of Wanganui, and Jfurruy (injured leg) of Wellington— had to leave the field, being unable to continue. The teams were as follow:— Wellington,—Full-back, Evensen-i threequarters, Boyd, Murray, and Young; fiveeighths, Ramsden and 'Jl'lCenzie; halfback, E. Roberts; wing forward, Skinner J forwards, Hills. Elliott. Wilson (captain), Cjillospie, H. Paton, JlTarlane, and R. Paton.

Wellington, 13; Wanganui, 9. Wanganui had thus scored three tries, white their opponents had stood at thirteen points without adding to their score, and the excitement was intense. How- ' ever, about twelve minutes to time, Tilyard's _ injured knee_ necessitated his going off, and the Waueonm backs then appeared to become disorganised, with Urn result that- the visitiiig rearguard, who (particularly Ramsden and M'lvenzie) were playing with great dash, let Young score twice, and Boyd once. M'Fnrlane converted two of these tries, and the game ended, after a.splendid disnlnv of Rugby, with the scores reading: Wellington 26 points. - ■ Wanganui 9 points.

Wanganul, September.l. As a "curtnin-raiser" to the bie match Wellington A v. Wauganui, Wanganul fourth played Wellington fifth. -The frame was very even. In tie first spell Donaldson scored for the visitors, the kick nt goal failing. In the second suell, on unconverted try was scored by Clrogan. Tile yarae thus ended ill a draw.
