LAWN TENNIS.

WILL ENGLISH TEAM COME HEKE? The quarterly meeting of tho New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association was held on Friday evening, Mr. G.'A. Hurley (Wellington) presiding. Others present were: Messrs. B. Keesing (Auckland), P. White-Parsons > (Canterbury), F. W. Grady, and F. P. "Wilson (Hawke's Bay), ei ' r J* (Otago), A. J. Dixon (Taranaki), A. J. M'Caul (Wanganui), D.,M. Ivean and If. St. J. Bee'ro (Wellington), and A. J. Petherick (secretary). Tho secretary of'the Lawn Tenuis Association of Australasia wrote, stating that little definite information had been received as to tho intention of the English Association in regard to the tour of au English tcaiu, so that an amount of uncertainty existed in .the minds of tho council. Writing under date of June 21, their representative in England stated:— "Tho Australasian offer has been accepted, and a-British team .will bo sent," and in a letter dated July 12, he said:—"l do not think, that you would be able to arrange a tour of Australia, and New Zealand solely on the , halfahare basis." Prior to the timo of writing a cablegram had been received in Sydney, giving the team as: Dixon, Beamish, Parke, and Gordon Lowe, arid stating that they intended playing at Sydney, Adelaide, .'Brisbane, and Perth after tho Davis Cup match. Taking the cablegram as correct, it. appeared as thought. New Zealand was tn bn. left , out of the torn'—a" happening which\\vould be regrettable.' ,'The chairman stated', that he was .somewhat doubtful as to whether..the tour, 'would WiStended to New Zealand. He' thought that the Management Committee should endeavour,to obtain some definite information as. soon as possible. If too' miich time were allowed to elapse before taking, action! Now Zealand would just have to take (a-, dates) whatever time happened to be. left.

Mr. G. H. Scholefield, late of Wellington. but now of London, was elected New Zealand delegates to tho Lawn Tennis Association.

Eegardirig the Davis Cup funds, the secretary reported that they would bo all placed in the Savings Bank, as requested by the association.
