FLOODED RIVERS.
WAIEiU AND OPAWA UP. During last week fairly heavy, rain fell ill the Marlborough district, resulting in the snow 011 the high levels melting, and early 011 Saturday morning tho Wairau and Opawa Rivers were in high flood. 'J. he only overflow of any considerable consequence occurred at Tna Marina, and there the Wairau J'iver broke bounds, inundating tho road and covering a largo area of fa'rnr land. On "Friday evening tho I Nelson coach negotiated this part of tho journey to Blenheim with difficulty. On Saturday morning the place was quite impassible, reports the "Marlborough Express," and tho Opawa and Wairau fords near Renwicktown were not passable, and, consequently, the coach was unable to set out upon the return journey. The whole coach service is somewhat disorganised. On Saturday morning tho flood at Tiia Marina had extended as far as the bridge on tho Blenheim-Ficton road. The lowlying ground in the same district was also covered, and the water was encroaching on the roadway. A big volume of water—one of .the largest of Hie.season— coming down the Opawa River on Saturday morning.
