In most retail businesses the cost of delivering parcels is one of iho important items of expense, and especially is this (he case in regard to the country store, whero deliveries have to be made over n very large area of country. Even with tho best of horses and the lightest of vehicles the delivery rounds lake n loujj time, and the distance covered is limited by the capacity of the horse. The big delivery firms in London found out long ago that horse-van delivery was too costly. They ascertained that the cost was (id. per mile. The motor-carrier took tho place of the horses, gave twice as fpst a service and covered twice as much ground, at a cost of only Id. per mile. Wo have just received delivery of a light, but very strong, motor-carrier, which carries goods up to half a (on, under cover. The engine is of G-S h.p., of simple strong design, and anvone could learn to drive the carrier in lialf an hour. Tt is very economical 011 petrol, running about GO miles to (lie gallon, and the lyres only cost ,£?. ss. per cover. There are two gears, and the carrier will climb any hill. The Melbourne Post Office is usi'u» ten of these carriers at present.
