WELLINGTON SHARE MARKET. A fair number of sales of mining shares were registered at the morning call yesterday, but no business was' done in tho afternoon. The weather to-day is wet, raining in torrents. The Blackwator South Syndicate is exceedingly active as regards their claims. The contractors engaged in driving struck a reef which is considered to bo tho south end of the famous Birthday reef. Assays taken averago lOdwt. Great hopes are entertained of-the new discovery. Tho mine (a private venture) started crushing, but stopped on account of water. Tho returns aro said to be favourable, and the rain will cnablo crushing to be restarted. DREDGING. Dunedin, August 30.
