JERSEY BREEDERS.
MEETING AT PALMERSTON. (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) ■ • Palmerston, August 29. At a meeting of the Council ot the Jersey Breeders' 'Association, held at l'almcrston to-day, it was decided to adopt tlio schcmo of semi-official testing of purebred cows, as explained by .Mr. D. Cuddie, Director of Dairy Produce of the Agricultural Department. District boundaries wero fixed for the election of members to the council on a district representation. • With a view to educating young breeders to become proficient in judging stock, it was resolved that it be suggested to the A. and P. Associations to allow one to accompany the official judge when officiating at shows. The question as to who is the breeder of an animal came up for consideration, and it was resolved to adhere to the rule (previously observed by the association) that the owner at the time of calving is the breeder. • Dealing with herd book matters, it was dccided to close the applications for the volume on. March 31, 1913. The council voted n substantial sum for the purchase of two silver trophies for competition at the agricultural shows. One was allotted to Auckland, and one to Stratford. The trophies are to be awardeel to the following classßest three females in milk, bred and shown by one exhibitor and exhibited in competition at the show; trophy to be won three times, not necessarily consecutively; the judge to be from the official list of tho Jersey Association. • A report was received notifying the formation of a local branch at Gisborne. A number of new members were elected.
