ANOTHER TRAM ACCIDENT.
CONDUCTOR INJURED. One more tram accident—and a rather serious one— occurred on Lambton Quay, at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. As Car 72 (Palace typo) was proceeding down tlio Quay, a tip-cart, laden with, rubbish, drew out 1 from tho promises of Messrs. Whitcomlw and Tombs, und collided with tlio swiftly, moving tram. Molorman J. 11, Dunn at onco applied the emergency brake, and tho car was'brought to a standstill instantly. Tho horse, however, struck (ho front of tlio car, smashing tho wind screens, and then swung round to tlio footpath, near Whitcouibo and Tombs's premises. Tho jerk resulting from tho sudden application of tlio brake, caused Conductor T. 11. White, who was on tho footljoard, to bo thrown heavily forward on to the road. Ho was picked up unconscious, ami carried into (lie Commercial Hotel, vrliero ho was attended by Drs. Gilmer and Henry. Ho regained consciousness shortly after being removed to the hotel, anil upon examination it was found that ho had sustained concussion of the brain. Ho was afterwards convoyed to tho llosi pital. On inquiry being mado at tho Hospital Lite last night, Conductor White was | reported to bo doing as well as could 1)0 expected under tho circumstances.
