TJie Jlanawatu Boxing Association has disqualified, for h\o years "Gnat" Williams, professional light-weight boxer, resident at Tokomam, for' wntling an allogcdly improper communication to tho iManawatii AssocinKon. Tho disqualification is to bo sent to the New. Zealand' b'oxing Association for confirmnlion. At the inquest this 'afternoon' concornmg the <le;ilh. of Charles Sutcliffe (before Mr. AV. J. Culver, acHng-coronor, and a jury of six, of which Jlr. 11. T. Flygcr was foreman),- tho medical evidence indicated that the symptoms were eompatiblo with, the supposition of corrosive poisoning. There wtro also indications of pronounced tubercular disease. Deceased had stated that ho tonk 25 of the tabloids (equal to about 200 grains). Deceased was evidently in very bad fcaUh. A verdict of suicide, whilst temporarily insane was returned. A presentation of a handsome marble clock was ni-ade last night to Jfr. T. O'Eeilly, of the Palmerston Hibernian Lodge, on the ove of his marriage. The presentation w«s made by P.P. Bro. J. •Cil'Sesaii. Cable advice from England received by the relatives of Councillor Haydnii, of Pnlmerston, states that he has had to undergo anotlii-r smnH opciation, l>ut is Retting well, and hopes to l>s> iiblo to leava for Xew Zcoland very shortly. Three hundred pound?, without interest, was obtained by Jlr. A: S. .Folrn'oii at a drawings at the local Starr-Bowkcit Society last in'sht.
