ONION GROWING.
A CORRESPONDENT'S QUERIES. A correspondent, "Agriculture," asks: (a) Tho approximate yield per acre of onions grown from seed; (b) the quantity of seed per acre; and (c) Iho season in which to plant; (d) is it too late now to plant; (e) how best to plant, i.e., in rows or broadcast. In reply we may state that it is inipossible to give any definito information regarding.tho yield per acre of onions, because so much depends npon tho conditions under which the crop is grown, tho naturo of the soil, tho season, and care of tho growing crop all influence Iho yield, which may vary from three or four tons upwards. It is not too late to plant now for then main crop, although many growers follow the practice of sowing in autumn and transplanting in spring. The ssed should nlways be sown in rows, and the plants thinned out. A ounce of seed is sufficient to sow a drill 100 feet long. There are prosperous times in.'storo for Dairying folk this season. Factories will pay big dividends, especially those equipped with "Victor" Vats. Alxmt eighty of these splendid Vats arc going to Taranald alone—a fact that speaks volumes for their value. Order jour "Victors" now to get the full benefit of them throughout tho Mason. Albert J. Farton, Cartertou— Advt. LIVE. STOCK SALES, Messrs.
