THE WEATHER.
. « SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for cloudy and unsettled weather, with rain in all parts of the country. The barometer will proba-bly continue to fall in the north, but a rise may be expected in the 6outh, though the indications aro not yet definite, and the barometer is unsteady. The winds will probably be variable and strong in parts—northerlies predominating in the North Island and east to south-easterly winds in the south. The barometer lias fallen everywhere, but is now showing a rising tendency at the Bluff. Northerly winds have prevailed, and moderate to strong generally, but with gales in n, Jew parts of the South Island. (From Our Special Correspondents.) Wanganui, August 29.—Overcast, with occasional light drizzle. Fcilding, August 29.—Itain in the nteht: overcast morning, drizzling afternoon; doubtful night. Palmeraton, August 29.—Showery, very mild. Otaki, August 29—Dull;' occasional liirh showers. Featherston, August 29.—Fine, but dull; change probable. Carterton, August 29.—The weather is fine, with cloudy sky. There was a light fall of rain last night. Greytown, August 29.—Iiain fell last night and this morning. The weather cleared this afternoon. ■ Masterton, August 28.—Fine but oloudy; easterly wind.
