Wedding at Hutt. On Wednesday morning a very quiet wedding took place at St. James's Church, Lower Hutt, when Miss Louisa Jane Judd, second daughter of Mr. James Judd, of "Bentley," Lower Hutt, v;as married to Mr. John Woodman Jones, eldest son of Mrs. Jones, of Pahautanui. The Rev. Joshua Jones was the officiating clergyman. ■_ . bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of champagne shantung, trimmed with while Irish lace and veil and orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of freezias and maidenhair ferns. Miss Irene Judd, was the only bridesmaid, and wore a pretty tussore silk gown, witl\ a hat trimmed with pinkroses and green' ribljon, and carried a bouquet, similar to that of the bride. Mr. Charles Whitcman ; attended as best man. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the residence ot the bride's father, "Bentley House;" Lower Hutt, and the usual toasts honoured. Later in the day, Mr. and. It was finally decided that Miss Mavis Giesen was the winner' of the prize for the most original dress ("Topsy"); K. WooUams for the best cai'ried . 3ut design for girl over nine years of . ige ("Indian Squaw"); Georgina Hurn. - best dress for girl under nine years of ;t"o ("Order of the Bath")! special prizes: \fr. J. E. Ivnyvett's little girl in even- ' Ing dress; Grace Adkius ("Welsh Girl"); irid Ruth Innes-Jones ("80-Peep"). For'the boys, the most original dress was won by Clifford Giesen '(" Aboriginal "); best carried out design, boys over nine, S. Innes-Jones ("Indian"); boys under nine, Master Roberts ("Robin Hood"); special prizes, Jack Musgrovo ("Cowboy"). Music was supplied by Mesdames Elliott, Lambert, and Vonables, and Misses O'Halloran, Spain, Fergussou, and Haybittle; also by Messrs. Fowler and Gillespie fpiano), Messrs. Hooil (violin), and F. Billman ('cello). An Irish jig was danced very charmingly by little Miss Bell. ' , | After the children had been served viith supper, and had taken their departure for their homes, dancing for their elders j took place, a very jolly timo being spent by everyone. Extras were played by Mr. Haybittk A quiet wedding took placo at the Catholic Church, Otaki, on Wednesday, when Miss Cook, daughter of Mr. A. H. Cook, was married to Mr. Connell, of Lansdowne, Masterton. Miss M. Cook was bridesmaid, and Mr. C. Cook best man. Miss Pitt, who has been wintering at Wairakei, arrives in Wellington on Saturday. A-return to tho series of dances organised by the' Misses Dora Wilson, D. Chilman, Cleghorn, J. Jameson, D. Roberts,. N. Gibbes, and Mrs. E. Salmond was given last evening in the Goring Street Hall by a committee comprising Messrs. WhifaParsons, R. Beere, L. Jennings, Eichelbaum, and others.
