A cyclone visited Grcnfell, a town in tho western district of tho State, at half-past iivo o'clock yesterday evening, and swept along leaving a track a hundred yards wide. The track of devastation ran through. George Street, ono of the principal thoroughfares. Many houses wore unroofed and their chimneys demolished. Verandahs and balconies were ripped bodily away from buildings, and trees were everywhere uprooted: The business places suffering included Messrs. Tunnoy's large produce stores, which were levelled to ■ the ground, and a blacksmith's shop, which fell like a pack of cards. Some tanks it a plumber's shop wero caught and whirled over a fence some distance away. The. verandah of the Royal Hotel was carried eighty yards along the street. The 6hects of iron skimmed along the road and terrified horses galloped through the town. Intense excitement prevailed among the residents, and several were injured. One person was blown through the window of a butcher's shop and severely cut by the glass. ■ George Street is completely wrecked, tho .damage amounting to many thousands. Heavy thunder, with torrents of rain, followed. The Premier, Mr. M'Gowen, has provided .£2OO for immediate relief.
