MINE-OWNERS' ULTIMATUM.
TO GREEN ISLAND MEN, ' (Br Telegraph.—Proii A»aoolatlon.l ' Dunedin, August 27. The miners employed in the Green Is' laud collieries held a meeting last night to consider a reply from the owners to the men's demands for increased wages, etc. The reply was to tho effect that before tho owners would consider tho demands the men must understand that any agreement entered into would have to !>o mndo an award of the Arbitration Court, and thoso miners whoso union is now affiliated to the Federation of Labour would liavo to form a fresh union and register under the Act. It is understood that the miners decided to adhere to tha tion of. Labour.
