______ MONTHLY MEETING. I The monthly meeting of tho Wellington j Education Hoard was held yesterday, j thcro being present: Tho chairman (Mr. ( 1?. lyee), and Messrs. J. G. W. Aitken, A. ( W. Hogg, .1. Kebbell, A. 11. Vile, W. Free- I man, Wm. Allan, and W. H. Field. I According lo tho monthly statement ,of | finances, there was a credit balance of | .£305 12s. Bd.; for the previous month | there was down a debit balance of JE9I , 12s. lOd. ( Tho resignations of tho following . teachers were accepted:—Mrs, Bland, Plimmerton; Miss L. M. Bradford, Waihoanga; Miss L. Harvey, Aoha T ';a; Mr. J. A. Gihnour, Rokanui; Mr. t Moriee, ' Teachers' Training College; Mr. .1. F. ' Davio, Roseneath; Mr. J. Mackenzie, Eosencath. A letter was received from the Education Department convoying tho intimation that a grant of .£3OO for the erection of a school at Matahiwi had been approved. SCHOOL GRANTS. Grants for tho following wero authorised:—Training College, renewal spouting, etc.; AVadestown,,, asphalting, drainage, fencing, metalling, etc.; Greytowil, blinds; Brooklyn, brick latrines; Potone, repairs to east boundary fence; Hutt, storm drain, lavatories, etc.; Epuni, new grate, repairs sheds, latrines; nukanui, repairs to tool house; Opaki, repairs, fencing, metalling; Kaiwarra, shelter shed; Wallaocvillp, new paling fence and gates; Makara, painting school and residence; Scarborough, refund to head teacher cost of new pit, etc., and subsidy on donation for ground improvements; Mitchelltown, water service; Ponatnhi, new latrines; Mnuriceville W., repairs lavatory basins and drains; ninire, gates and repairs fencing, repairs fireplaces: Kaitara, new latrines; Panautanui, now latrines; Gladstone, metalling round residence; Pnrkvale, subsidy ground improvements; Brooklyn, fencing renewal, half cost of material. Consideration of the following was deferred:—Eeikorangi, wood-shed, fencing horse paddock; Kilbirnic, rubbish tins; Mnngaone, lopping trees. It was resolved with regard to the following :— Wainuiomata—Tho old residence is to bo left on the site for tho present. Pongaroa—The committee is to be informed that the paddock attached to the residence is for the use of the teachor. Ilnkanui—Request with regard to conveniences declined in the meantime, pending further consideration. Conveyancesfa) Pahautanui—Owing to tho increased numbers, an additional allowance of t .£s will be granted for conveyance, (b) Kimberley Road to Lovin—Arrangements to bo made for the conveyance of the children, approximately throe miles, for tho regulation allowance. Tho following library subsidies wero granted:—Khandallah, 6s. 2d.; Porirua, £1. An application for an additional subsidy for Martinborough was declined. On tho recommendation of the Finance Committee, it was resolved, with regard to tho question of sites:—Normal SchoolThat the offer of extension of site bo declined; and that tenders bo invited for leaso of tho reserves for a period of seven years at Section 235, Alfrcdton, and Section 95, Block 11, Packakariki. - TENDERS ACCEPTED. Tho following tenders wero accepted:—, Mungaroa, (desk alteration), J. Emery; Upper Hutt (desk alteration), J. Emery; Terrace (water service), 0. W. Martin; office fittings, J. "•Moffattj Wharearaa (erection of school), J. Emery; Fornridge, (removal of galleries, extra light, ■ etc.), Bcale and Co.; Mnngaroa (erection of wash-house), J. Emery; South Wellington (improvement of water service), S. L. Russell, as per conditions set forth in his letter; £o authorised for_ reconstruction of grating and frame of boiler. Tenders have to bo invited for fencing at Plimincrton.
