Over twenty years ago Mr. Pullford became interested in Brooklyn land, and ho himself played no unimportant part in liio development of tho hill-top suburb He sat for tho district on tho Melrose Borough Council, and when that body was absorbed in the Greater Wellington scheme ho sat for a term on tho Wellington City Council. Ho has been a candidate for that body oil more than occasion since. Iu his younger days Mr. Fullford lvas an ardent footballer, and was one of the founders of the Melrose Club. He was ulso a member of the Pnresters' Order. Ho leaves a widow and family of four.

Mr. A. R. Macdonald has been admitted as a solicitor of tho Supremo Court by Mr. Justice Sim, on tho motion of Mr. 1. Aeavo. Mr. J. B. Merrott, editor of the "NewZealand Poultry Journal," Christchurcli, is on a visit to Wellington, Mr. Cyril Ward is a passenger for Wellington by the Manuka, which sailed from Sydney on Saturday.—Press Association.

Professor Elkington has resigned his position ns professor of Jiistory and political economy at the Melbouiuo University.

The friends of Mr. G. S. Smith, sheepfarmer, of Paekakariki, and son of Mr. Frank Smith, of Wingfield Street, will regret to hear of his death which occurred at his residence early on Saturday morning. _ Mr. Smith, who always took a lively interest in county matters, and who was largely responsible for securing the site and building of the Anglicait Church at Paekakariki, was held in tlio highest respect and esteem by all classes in the district. The funeral takes placo at Olaki to-day. A Press Association message from Christchurcli stales that the Rev. R. S. Gray, of Oxford Terrace Baptist Church, announced at yesterday morning's service that he had accepted an invitation to the Hanover Street Baptist Church, Dunedin. Ho will not, however, begin his ministry in Dunedin until the New Year. The Rev. W. J. Ashford, who is to take charge of the Congregational Church at St. Clair, Dunedin, arrived in Wellington bv the Turakina from London on Saturday, Mrs. 'Ashford accompanied him. Mr. W. C.
