MASTERTON NOTES.
(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Masterton, August 23. At n lnrgely-aftended public meeting held in the Town Hall to-night the following, resolution , was carried: "That, in the opinion of this meeting of Jlastertnn residents, the time has arrived at which Masterton should have a high'school, and that, in accordance with the'regulations, the Wellington Education Board be. requested, to give effect to tho steps necessary to establish same." .■ . : . A deputation from Wairarapa will wait upon'the Minister for Public AVprks next week in reference to (ho proposed East Coast railway. Notwithstanding statements made by the Prime Minister to a Manawatu deputation in regard to an Agricultural College for Wairarapa, a deputation intends urging the claims of this district to-mor-row.
