A BIG DEAL.
(Published by Arrangement.) . A deal that involves practically half a million dollars and is by far .tho largest that evej took place in Antioch, California, was tho recent tala of the California Wood Pulp Board Mills to the 1 Paraffino Paint Co., of San Francisco. Tho former owners contemplated many improvements which tho new management are now successfully parrying - out. As is well known, the Paraffino Paint Company officials have a reputation for progressiveness,' and there is littie question* but that they will make the Pulp Board Mill second 'to nono in Hie West. The samo concern also purchased from tho California Wood Pulp Hoard Mills about a year ago tho Lynwood Company, manufacturers of finishing boards ltt imitation of various kinds of wood. Tho Mill is, and always lias been, Antioch's best and most prominent industry. It was established by M.-D. Kceney and Sons'in ISSO, after Mr. Keeney, who was an experienced paper-maker, having 1 founded and operated eleven mills, had travelled all over California looking" for a suitable location, decided that thera were greater opportunities at Antioch for securing raw materials than in any other •section. After changing hands a couple, of tiiues, Ihe business has steadily improved until now it is equipped with some of Ihe latest machinery know iu tlifl paper-making business, and it, will probably be increased to a still larger extent. iu future. Proof of the progressiveness of the licff owners who are known locally as manufacturers of MnM Ik-lid and P. and I>. materials, is demonstrated by tho big stocks of "AMIWUD," as it is called, which, havo . already been landed m Australia and Xew Zealand, and arrangements have been made with Messrs. final tor, Dykns, and Co. to act as principal agents for Wellington Province, and villi oilier concerns all over the Dominion. This firm invites inspection ef this artistic panelling, which they havo erected in tlioir Showroom. Although stocks havo only just arrived, "AMIWUD" has created such an impression Hint the Agents anticipate ooiiiß unable to cope wilh tho business themselves, and negotiations are pending with several of the leading Hardware, Mor> chants to distribute the new material.
