Palmerston North, August 22. Mr. D. Cuddic, Director of Dairy Produce of the Agricultural Department, addressed a meeting of Kairanga dairy farmers at the A. and I'. offices this afternoon, on the question of cow-testing. After fully discussing the matter, it was decided to form an association, and ,cver six hundred cows were guaranteed in the room. It is anticipated the total will easily reach a thousand by the timo that the association is got into working order. The annual installation of Worshipful Master and investiture of officers of the .Masonic Lodge, Otangake (Ashhurst.) took place to-night, Hro. Frew being installed as AY.M. lirn. J. A. Nash, of Lodge Manawatti Kilwinning, was Installing Master. The' Rev. Mr. Ford Hutchison, of the Palmerston Anglican Church, who has been appointed to the Wellington diocese, will not leave Palmerston. till October. A large numbtr of (lags (including those on tlie municipal buildings) jvere flown nt half-mast to-day, in respect for the late General Booth. The Napier Northern League Vootball T'nion has applied to the Palmerston Borough Council to declare a holiday when the Australian League team play's in Napier.- The matter has been referred lo the Holiday Association.
