—; « ME. C. S. NIXON. The death occurred at nil early liout this morning, at his residence in Tinakori ltoad, of Mr, Charles Stafford -Nixon, Collector of Customs and Chief Inspector of the Customs Department. Mr. Nixon nod been in ill-health for somo time, and 1113 death was not unexpected. Tho lato Mr. Nixon joined the Customs service on July 1, 1872, and at; tho beginning of last month completed 40 years sorvico with tho Department*. Mr. Nixon s eldest brother passed at the head of the list and Mr. Nixon himself came second. Two jwirs later lie was appointed Inspector to tho Department, and ho has been Collector of Customs at Wellington and Inspector of Customs for the Dominion up to the time of hi 6 retirement, a few days ago.
