LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
NEGLECTED NEW ZEALAND. Sir,—"Tho Observer" is recognised as one of the "great" London newspapers. To-dny it prave.lv chronicles tho "Defeat of Sir Joseph Ward's Government," and comments thereon in total ignorance of tho fact that a change of Ministry occurred sonic time ago. Is it not possible for the Government to tako practical step 3 to inform tho English world that New Zealand actively exists, and is (in (ho opinion of tho people of tho Dominion at any rate) quite an important place? The newspaper* here give considerable prominence to Australian and Canadian affairs (their respective Commissioners see to that), but when at rare intervals mention of Now Zealand is made it is usually in a few' lines carefully stowed away iii an obscuro comer. Tho kindliest feeling exists towards tho Dominion, and it only requires adequate and properly-directed effort to ensure the masses knowing its advantages and benefiting thereby. NMeantimo the settlers we want, and there are thousands, seeking outlets, go elsewhere. —I am, etc., A. E. KERNOT. Kensington, London, W., July 7, 1912.
