In moving the adoption of tho balance-sheet, tho chairman stated that the year's transactions had been very satisfactory, and tho ciuo was now in a'sound financial position, the overdraft at the bank having been reduced to .€305 19s. 3d., ns at July dl. Bcferring to the agitation against racing, ho expressed tho opinion .that although there had been a clianga in Parliament, there would probably be no chnngo ot policy in racing legislation. Considering tho largo amount paid to the State l>.\ racing and trotting clubs m tho way ot taxation, tho racing community did not receive much return in railway faci ities mid other matters. They did not object to taxation, but it should bo moderate, or racing men. would not conhmio with, tho sport, and then the question of a. State subsidy to owners of t»° r °"S hb i, e <' stock would havo to be dealt with, lor tho breeding of remounts, the thoroughbred was tho best for crossing purposes lu regard to tho Sports Protection league, tho club had contributed towards its support, as the league had a very largo membership, and would bo of great assistance to racing clubs if they had to fight for their existence. Tho intention of the-Pacing Conference to appoint stipendiary stowards was admitted to bo fully Juftified, and ho had no idou M tha such paid stewards would bo ot great assistance to local stewards. Ho thought that'tho club was now in. a position, to institute a weight-t'or-age race on its programme, officials were elected:President Mr. V E. Bidwill, vicc-prcs,. dents, Messrs. Q. Donald, S. Cum y (reelected), and W. J. Nix; judge, Mr. \\. H. Hartgill; deputy-]udge, Mr. J. J • Card; and the retiring stewards were re-elected, with the addition of Mr, v. H. S. Biddiford.
